Look Post | Europa Design Emporium Culotte

Asalaamu Alaikum everyone! I hope that you have all been wonderful In sha Allah. I really have been struggling to get out to do interesting look posts that I envision. This must obviously also include a scenery of interest to tell the correct story or add to it. Unfortunately, I have not been able to do as planned. So, I have reverted to shooting in the back yard.

In trend reports the world over, the Culotte pants is what is deemed as the must have item for spring. The word 'Culotte' hails from France but is a term that describes the wide-leg cropped pants. The Europa Culotte, is not a cropped version of the pants and that is how I prefer it. With the great print, it's an easy to wear pants perfect for our summer season, which in all honesty seems to be in hibernation. It's also the perfect pants for the modest wearing individual and pair it with a crop top and it can be worn as a less modest version too.

Mind you, a cropped version is super stylish and will compliment most body types.

I paired the culotte here, with a black slouchy shirt from Mr Price to create a very relaxed and easy to wear look. I'm really all about comfort lately and I must say that I am simply in love with Mr P's slouchy shirts with the extra length!

You can contact the team of sisters at Europa Design Emporium for any item from their range and be sure to catch their new range at the Sisters in Support Fashion show which will be show cased among other fabulous designers on the 24 January 2015.

If you are interested in the jewellery that I often wear, including some of the scarf styles, be sure to pop by the +Rebel Funk and Memrsme scarf styling  open day on the 30 November! Join us for cup cakes, tea, shopping and networking!

Until next time loves, Keep it you and keep it modest!

Look Post | Day to Night with a Kimono

Salaam everyone!

The end of the year is approaching rapidly and with that people become inundated with work looking forward to the festive season break. The same rings true for me with this time of the year being wedding season.

I have however had a quite a few free days which has I have filled with my need to explore my creativity (some very exciting personal projects). I try very much to balance my days with off days and busy days.

I have however been finding it very difficult to shoot look posts. This past weekend I decided that I needed to get something out and shot a quick look post in the back yard.

This is how I would go from a simply casual day outfit, to a slightly more dressed up version of it. Kimono's are all the rage this season and I couldn't agree more! It's so very versatile and can be worn in a casual manner and just as simply dressed up. It's perfect for the spring summer season and a definite modest piece.

In this look, I simply wore these lovely salmon leather sandals with my to die for, Vintage Rose statement piece, to add a touch of glam to the casual look. I added the Kimono and some heels to convert to a daytime dressy look.

In terms of look posts, I have a Europa Designs Culotte that I wore to the Fashion Passion event I attended. I didn't manage to take any pictures (due to me forgetting the camera bag on the table at home) so I will have to recreate it.

I hope that some of you caught my interview on the Voice of the Cape Radio last week saturday. I will try to post some clips that my sister in law recorded from the interview soon. Also, some time in November our interview with the An Nur show will be aired so please keep a look out for that.

Until next time loves! Keep is you and keep it modest!

Attendance | Simply Modest Fashion Show by Little Big Event Planners

Asalaamulaikum Everyone! I attended the much anticipated Simply Modest Fashion show, hosted by Little Big Event Planners on the saturday the 27th September.

Hosted by little Big event planners who as they explain are a full service event planning company that provides complete planning consulting and supervision for events. Little Big Event Planners provide it's clients with layout, cooking, baking and with the ultimate goal of making your design specific event an elegant, unique and memorable experience.

Little Big Event planners started with a idea between two friends, who shared the same passion for giving people what they want and more in the best way possible. This dream came about they say, while sitting and chatting about what they could do other than lounge around. They set themselves goals, started a facebook page and then came the planning if their first event which was riddled with many hiccups which they attribute to making it all worth while. What we saw was a fabulous fashion show which showcased many designers that I have not event heard of. I think it's wonderful that these type of shows are there to showcase all our local talent.

The event hosted 150 women and was held at the Protea Hotel Breakwaters Lodge. Among the line up was Europa Design Emporium, Fabulous in Hijab, Buttons and Bows, Hijab Brides SA, Miss H, Designs by Sania, Wimsy, Safiyah Scarf styling and some pretty amazing Belly Dancing for entertainment.

Since they were catering for a Muslim market for this particular event,  I was impressed that they kicked off the show with a small dua, and had salah facilities available.

Here are some of my favourite garments from the show.

After attending their first event,  to me it seems that the two friends managed to come up with something that would be positively constructive, rewarding and relationship building at the same time. I wish them great success in all future endeavours and may we all continue to support our local entrepreneurs.

Their next event held in conjunction with Sisters in Hijab will be a fundraising benefit for Palestine. Details and on flyer below.  I hope to see you all there!

Until next time loves!

Attendance | Pomegranate Events Coffee Mornings

Assalaamualaikum Lovelies! I hope that you have all been wonderful!

Last month I attended the Pomegranate Events Coffee Mornings, held at the Blue Biscuit in Belvedere road.  Has anyone of you been to Scally Wags? Well, Scally Wags has been replaced by a cute little coffee shop and a studio space for Pilates, Yoga etc. It's really is quite quint and you should definitely pop around there sometime. It has beautiful light streaming in from the windows and those white washed tables that adds to the serene feel of the place. Do check it out!

Lamees Romaney is the women behind Pomegranate Events and her idea for the Coffee Mornings was to gather women of a variety of ages to come together, take time out of their schedules, cooking and chores, to relax, learn something new, laugh with friends, enjoy some yummy treats and be pampered.

Among the speakers, were Leilah Kristens (Contemporary dancer, Personal Trainer and Pilates Instructor), Moira (Recent Survivor participant), Dr Reihana Romaney (TIBB Practitioner), The Hair Studio Team, LOreal Brand Manager and beauty therapist, Khadeeja Bray (Beauty Talk).

We started of the morning with some light stretches with Leilah, which set the tone for the rest of the morning. It was not only relaxing but also put my body and mind in the right space to face the day. Thereafter, Moira took the stage and gave an inspirational talk about her life experiences and what she learnt from it. Her main message, which really hit home for me, was that you have to show up! Life can throw you some very strange and completely unexpected curve balls  but then can also inadvertently completely surprise you! The idea is to just show up, be there and face it.

Dr Reihana spoke about the natural remedies of TIBB and how they, as TIBB practitioners first sit with you and assess your entire history.  They then gauge what kind of personality you manifest through most of your life. This will determine what medication will work for you. This entire concept was very enlightening.

The owner of Hair studio, Adiel spoke about what they do at the salon and a few lucky women got their hair styled.  There was some great give-aways from Loreal, Hair Studio, and Beauty Talk. You were also able to book a ten minute cupping session with Dr Reihana and get your eyebrows shaped with Khadeeja.

In all, an informative and great event to meet people and definitely learn something.

This was the  second coffee morning with Pomegranate Events. I did a quick bit of scarf styling at the 3rd event, this past tuesday, which was centred around Eid.

If you want see what all this is about, it only costs R80 and are held monthly on a Tuesday morning.  I may just find you there!!
